Course Overview

The course, designed for PG/DNB students, practicing pathologists, residents, upcoming nephropathologists will help the learners with

  • Processing of kidney biopsies and staining renal biopsies for light microscopy and immunofluorescence
  • Identify the structure of renal biopsy sections and detect abnormalities.
  • Basic patterns of renal injury and utility of special stains aiding in diagnosis
  • The mechanisms of proteinuria and lesions associated with nephrotic syndrome.
  • Understanding the patterns of glomerular injury in nephritic syndrome.
  • Tubulointerstitial diseases and vascular diseases of the kidney.
  • Evaluate and integrate histologic, immunofluorescence, electron microscopic, and clinical findings in common kidney diseases.
  • Understand the pathological aspects of transplant rejection and the key lesions
  • associated with anti-rejection medications.
